10 Tips for a Successful Exhibit
- 1. Post the Miami Higher Ed EXPO on your online recruitment calendar and link it to our website. This will ensure that potential local applicants and prospects know about your participation and plan ahead to visit your booth. The URL of the student page of our website is: http://www.higheredexpo.com/students/.
- 2. Take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. Have the visitors to your booth apply online. Bring a laptop, Ipad, tablet or any similar technology and connect to the wi-fi available to exhibitors. All exhibitors will have access to a power outlet. All electronic devices must be removed from the booth whenever it is not attended.
- 3. Make a great first impression. Use graphics, banners, displays and backdrops to decorate your booth. This will make you stand out from the other exhibitors and create greater impact. You can send your materials and decorations in advance to our warehousing facility as detailed in the Exhibitor Manual.
- 4. Like us on facebook (facebook.com/HigherEdEXPO) and share our page on your own admissions facebook page to let potential applicants know that you will be participating at the EXPO. We will reciprocate and share your relevant stories with our facebook fans.
- 5. Bring relevant promotional items and giveaways. We encourage you to use promotional items and giveaways to enhance your brand and visibility. There are many options available, from the traditional highlighters to the innovative mini USB drives with imprinted logos. For guaranteed exposure, sponsoring institutions are allowed to insert promotional items in the welcome bag. (Note: Helium balloons, food and beverage items are not allowed by the facility as give away items. A bowl of bite-size candy is allowed).
- 6. Mail out the free attendance passes (sponsors only). Sponsors receive a bundle of free attendance passes which can be mailed out as invitations to their lists of local prospects. The guests who receive these passes do not need to register to enter the event, and may attend the information sessions and browse the event without you having to “share” their lead and contact information with other exhibitors.
- 7. Make use of the conference sessions (sponsors only). Sponsors receive a number of conference room sessions as part of their package. These conference rooms can easily accommodate up to 100 people at a time. Make strategic use of these sessions to conduct information sessions about your programs, requirements and application procedures.
- 8. Program guide advertisement (sponsors only). Extend your presence and branding beyond the exhibit hall by having a full color advertisement on the program guide to be distributed among all attendees.
- 9. Make effective use of the lead retrieval scanners. All exhibitors will receive wireless lead retrieval scanners as part of their exhibit package to gather prospect information. Unlike limited capacity scanners used at similar events, our scanners can hold up to 10,000 contacts – no need to reload or empty the scanner in the middle of the show.
- 10. Enjoy yourself. The show is long and will keep you busy most of the time, but there’s no reason why you should not take advantage of being in Miami Beach. Make sure to take the time to network with other exhibitors and explore the many dining, shopping and entertainment options available in SOBE.
